feedback
For my feedback I showed a group of people my digipak, also included a questionnaire for them to complete, the questions insisted on what the audience think the theme and genre of the digipak and magazine is. The results of this questionnaire were very helpful and allowed me to use the criticism and positives of the feedback to create my final piece of coursework.
Here were a few examples of the edits that i had created for a section of the digi pak, the edit and effects within these images wee also shown to my peers and allowed me to create a tally of what works best and what the audience would be more drawn too.

Feedback of Editing
In the next editing session, although the editing is overall completed there is always room for improvement. Some feedback that we had been given was, that overall the performance footage is quite static and a little boring, as it is just a image of them playing for 22 seconds. the feedback given was that also we tried to use the ken burns maybe adding more of a variety of shot types such as close ups, zooms, behind the shoulder would allow for more variety and create a more exciting piece of footage.
Also another criticism that we had was the father bit, with the photo in the hallway, the feedback given for this was that it was a bit random as he just walks through the door and starts shouting where as we could add an image of him walking back through the door so therefore Emily can bring Etienne through the house. We will come together soon and proceed to edit these.

Editing day 6
In this editing session we decided
to work on the collaboration of adding the shots where the main antagonist characters’
father is acting drunk and disorderly and where he shouts at her whilst she is
holding the photo frame of her and her mother. This section was easy as it was
just a case of using the trim and crop tool to place and fit the clips together
so they would flow. As we had already editing the part where Emily is holding
the image of her mother we had this to work with so we could place the father
scene perfectly
Another piece that we edited was
the scene where Emily and Etienne come together after she had the domestic argument
with her boyfriend. This was a case of using the tools such as; trim to create
a more realistic looking image rather than it being too long to view. After we
had cropped the images I then placed them all together in the correct order so
that the narrative can run in time, I also used the blade tool to create a jump
cut effect on one piece of footage where they are walking away together, this
was because the footage was too long and I thought it would create an effect
that would also go to the beat of the music. Overall, I think this edit went
well.
Jess then cut and trimmed a few
shots for our ending. When she had done as much as she thinks she could have, I
looked over it and put my opinion on what I thought would look just as good,
adding little tweak’s and more clips to the ending, also I arranged them in an
order where I thought would look most effective.

Magazine draft
Firstly for my magazine drafts, I had come up with a couple of ideas and this lead me to ask for feedback of each and what people think is the best image to use.
Editing Day 5
In this editing session we decided to edit the two scenes of
where Emily the main antagonist character is walking home drunk, and walks into
her house to pick up the photo of her ‘absent mother’, then we also decided to
edit the scene where she and her boyfriend climb over the school gate and meet
up, they are having some sort of domestics and arguing, and Emily then goes to
ring the boy from the other night that she met.
When editing the scene where Emily comes home drunk and disorderly,
we came to a fault in our filming, we hadn’t noticed that when she first drops
the photo of her in a long shot she is stood completely still and once we shot
the close up of the picture falling she is stepping backwards. We also filmed
the photo being broken on the floor, however, this shot didn’t work
particularly well with the others so we had to erase that. However, it took a
lot of trial and error to fix this as we tried to crop it and see if the scene
would look better without it, but then I came up with the idea that we could
blade it to make it jumpier, but look more realistic, I also added a slow
motion to it, this creating more of a meaningful emotion as to when she drops
the photo fame.
When we editing the scene of her and her boyfriend climbing
over the school gate and her dropping the school work to represent her negative
attitude towards school. The close ups that Jess had filmed of the book falling
were not great due to the weather and the type of shot we were trying to
complete, however Jess did get a great shot of the paper blowing away in the
wind and when editing I informed jess to use the blade tool as it will make it
seem more conventional to an Indie rock, this also helped to fit well with the
music, we added a slow motion affect to also represent the papers flying away
was to represent her life and her negative passion that she had towards school.
We also had edited the scene of where
the main character once met her boyfriend, they go and sit down at a pub, and
suddenly start to argue, we included a vast amount of shot types in this scene
such as, over the shoulder, match on action, wide shot and a long shot. This allowed
us to experiment with the different shots and angles that I had previously
filmed. Jess placed these shots together using the blade and crop tool, this
worked perfectly. I am happy with how the sessions are going so far.

Filming day 3
We wrote down a secure plan of what we needed to film therefore this would keep us organised when filming. We conducted the filming on the 20th March.

Change of charater
Unfortunately, we had to change the character of the
boyfriend, this was due to the original being busy and it therefore slowing the
process down for us meaning we would have to rush to get everything done. So we
decided to use Laurence, him being already into acting and drama Jess thought
he was the perfect match. However, he is represented as a ‘pretty boy’ and this
wasn’t the representation that we wanted for this actor however, we made it
work and dresses him up in the stereotypical ‘chav’ clothing. This allowed him
to fit the role of what we wanted.

Editing day 4
Today we completed the next session of our editing.
When we were editing on day number four we just continued to
put together clips of Emily in order to develop more of a narrative structure.
In this editing session we started to place together the scenes where Emily is ringing and getting texts from the boy that she had previously woke up in the bed with the night before. This scene was only meant to be a short period of the music. However, I filmed a vast amount of footage from different angles so we could experiment with our editing skills. I found this slightly easy to complete when editing the footage as I used the crop tools to shorten the shots down to fit in the space that we needed, I also mention to Jess that when Emily has her phone out her lock background was a photo of her in a pretty dress with her friends, I decided to try and crop this out as I thought it would ruin the whole ‘corrupted’ vibe that we wanted, successfully I removed the background therefore this kept the representation of her not caring to how we wanted it.
Also, we edited the scene where she is leaving
her house, as well as having previously filmed a lot of footage it allowed us
to pick and choose what we best thought would fit where. Jess fitted these
scenes together, she used the trim tool, I advised that we added a slow motion
to the clip as she is walking out to create a sense of meaning to why she was
leaving. This I believe worked very well and we will continue in the next editing
session we have on fitting more of the narrative into the video.

Editing day 3
Today we started adding some of the footage that we had taken. We began by editing the start of the narrative where Emily is waking up in bed, this took us quite a long time to sort through the clips that we wanted to use and didn't want too. It was quite complicated as we needed to fit the last clip somehow to zoom into a blank screen which we will be experimenting with next time.
I then tried to fit the scene where Emily is being sick from after her night out, there was many shots, including many different angles and shot types, such as close ups, long shots etc. I placed them together and me and Jess then tired to cut specific clips to the amount of time that we needed it to be. We used the blade tool and crop to create these effects.
When filming we collected a lot more footage than we will need to use. I felt that this would be a good idea as we wouldn't have to go back and re film missing pieces of footage. It also will allow us to create more angles and shot types when editing that specific scene.

Editing Day 2
We decided to come together to do another day of editing our band footage. Once we had got the initial footage of the band to fit the music 'Roll The Dice' we then decided that we would cut the bits of the band performance where the narrative would be so we could just slot it in when we came to it. We also needed to place the close ups and different angles that we had filmed into the footage. Jess tried to overlap a few of the shots but she said that she was finding it difficult to run smoothly with the music. Jess and I will come together tomorrow 3/3/17, and try to make the footage fit to the best that it can, also I am going to add the other footage of the narrative into the scene so it is all together. This may take a lot of trial and error, taking up a lot of time however, it is needed to be as close to match up as possible.

looking through the footage
The footage that Jess and I filmed I had decided that I would just do a quick look through to make sure that everything that we needed is there and ready to import into the editing that we have already completed.
Overall, everything that we filmed seems to be the correct clips of what we were aiming for. I had noticed that I had filmed a lot of different takes of each scene that we shot, this will be good as we can decided what looks best, we want the shots to fit with the lyrics. I believe that we have taken a lot of footage that will make it easier for us when placing it with the music.
I am happy with the amount of footage that we had shot, even though we are not going to use all the footage It is a good idea that we had done so many as it means we will not have to go back and re film anything.

Digi pak draft
First of, I have created a simplistic digipak. this will help me to get an idea of the layout that I am looking for.
The pictures that I have chosen are of the main character and the band, mainly. I thought this was a good idea to use these photos because they gave a representation of the indie rock genre and how meaningful the narrative of the music video is.
I do believe that the photographs that I am using suit well together as they all come across with the same vibe of Indie. The make up, costume, props and actors were all kept the same as the ones that I use within my production of the music video.
This is my digipak before I experimented with different lighting effects and the fonts. Which I will do in my next session.
